"Winter Storm Warning" for Chatham and area from Midnight Wednesday to 4 p.m. Thursday

We continue to monitor what appears to be a “quick hitting storm” that is on track to impact Morris County. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a “Winter Storm Warning” from midnight Wednesday until 4 p.m. Thursday.

The snow is expected to move into our area overnight Wednesday, generally developing between 11 p.m. this evening and 1 a.m. Thursday morning. The data suggests that the snow will intensify by 4-5 a.m. with moderate to occasionally heavy snow then likely to continue through about noon.

The heavy snow may make many roads potentially impassable for several hours during the worst part of the storm. We also may experience power outages due to the weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines.  Lingering lighter snow may continue into the afternoon hours, before finally tapering off by 4-5 p.m.

Total accumulations of 6-11 inches are forecasted at this time. We anticipate rapid accumulations on all surfaces and a significant impact to the morning rush hour.

Please only call 911 for an emergency. We anticipated that the staff of the Morris County Communications Center will be extremely busy.

We have provided the link below to the JCP&L 24-7 Power Center. Please use the link and related applications to report a power outage. Please also see the JCP&L message below.
