Z Deli & Catering Opens in Springfield

Executive Chef Kris Wojeciuk

When it comes to choosing deli specialties, I tend to head to the suburbs of Essex County. There, I am almost sure I will be satisfied with deli specialties like: Corned Beef, lean Pastrami, Sloppy Joe's, Lox, Whitefish, Whitefish salad, and counters and cases filled with almost anything you might want to complete your breakfast, lunch, dinner, or special event.

So it was with much happiness that Z Deli & Catering on Mountain Ave., in Springfield, opened their doors on Sunday, November, 18th. Once the chef at one of Essex County’s more prominent Appetizer-Dinner-Take-Out-locations, Executive Chef Kris Wojeciuk and Roman Zingerman have brought their wealth of recipes and expertise to Union County.

“Kris is a very talented chef,” said Frank Russo a resident of Union County, and Color Director-Co-Owner of Imagine Salon in Springfield. “His Deli boasts a warm, family-friendly spirit. From the moment you enter, you’ll notice the staff work as a team. It won’t surprise me if after several seasons, they enlarge their location.”

“I feel fortunate that I am able to use all of my grandmother’s recipes,” said the busy chef who began his career more than thirty years ago at Larry’s Delicatessen in Plainfield. “I am grateful that I finally listened to our many customers, who continually urged me to open a Deli-Catering-Take-Out Shop in Union County. We’re delighted to be in Springfield, and delighted to greet so many of our friends.”

“You may want to start your day with a full Breakfast featuring oatmeal, with assorted toppings. Choose: Bananas, Strawberries, Cinnamon, Sugar, and of course Raisins. We also offer Steak and Eggs,” adds partner Roman Zingerman. “Be it breakfast, lunch, dinner, or on or off-premise catering, we want our customers to know we are always here for them.”

“We’re especially delighted with our Salad selections,”  he continued. “We offer a choice of Romaine, Iceberg, or Mixed Greens. Our basic Chopped Salad known as “Chops,” feature Tomato, Cucumber, and Bermuda Onions, while Greek Salads offer Greek Olives, Feta Cheese, Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Bermuda Onions, and Romaine Lettuce. We also feature a Grilled Chicken Caesar as well as a Grilled Chicken Salad. Guests are encouraged to create their own salad platters, which are served with Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, and choice of Tuna, Egg, or Chicken Salad, as well as Egg White, White fish salad or grilled chicken.”

Muffin fans will enjoy their treats in flavors of Chocolate Chip, Blueberry, Corn, or Cranberry, while Omelets are served with Home Fries and toast. Guests may choose from a variety of spreads to smear on their Bagel or Croissant.

From plain cream cheese, to olive, vegetable cream cheese, or pimento, to Chicken, Egg, Tuna, Diet Tuna Salad, Egg White’s with Mushrooms and Vegetables, and the ever favorite, Lox, Eggs and Onions.
