Chatham Borough No. 2 in New Jersey for Local Biking Investment

The Westfield Recreation Department may bring its popular training wheel toss back this fall.

CHATHAM, NJ - In a study of local biking in New Jersey, Chatham Borough was No. 2 in the Top 10 of municipalities on the New Jersey Bicycle Benchmarking Report published by the NJ Bicycle & Pedestrian Resource Center.

The study conducted for 2013 and 2014 surveyed municipalites and used other online sources to evaluate infrastructure, policies, and safety programs that promote bike riding compared to "peers."

Belmar was ranked No. 1 for having 9 percent of commuter trips made on bicycle and for having a "police force fully trained to patrol on bicylce," according to the report. Chatham Borough was No. 2 based on its "investment in Safe Routes to School."
