CHATHAM, NJ - At approximately 12:45 am on March 13, 2019, Officer Matthew Belcastro arrested Michael Redlich, age 21, from East Hanover, New Jersey for driving while intoxicated.
Officer Belcastro initiated a motor vehicle stop for speeding on Main Street. He
approached the driver, spoke with him and then requested that he exit his vehicle. Mr. Redlich performed a series of field balance test and based on those observations was
placed under arrest. He was transported to police headquarters and administered a breath test.
Mr. Redlich became disorderly in HQ, ultimately shoving Officer Belcastro and
throwing a shoe at a computer monitor. Mr. Redlich was charged with obstruction of law, criminal mischief, driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, speeding and unclear license plate. He was later released into the care of a friend pending a court.
All persons charged with an offense are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
