Hard work, sacrifices paying dividends after 20 years for veteran real estate broker Mary Weichert Named to 2019 REAL Trends Best Real Estate Professionals List

CHATHAM, NJ – Staying ahead of the curve in the constantly evolving real estate market has been a key driver to the success of Mary Weichert’s long-standing tenure as a real estate broker out of Weichert’s Chatham office. Over the span of the last two decades, she has seen it all and has thrived in the real estate market thanks to the tandem of hard work and sacrifice while remaining diligent about the latest trends in the industry.

So it comes as no surprise that Weichert was named the top individual real estate agent in Chatham and No. 40 in New Jersey in the 2019 REAL Trends Best Real Estate Professionals List.

“It’s gratifying to see those results being recognized by a reputable third party,” explained Weichert. “Seeing all the hard work paying off is such a rewarding feeling and it makes you realize that you are making a difference.”

However, there were countless hours of blood, sweat and tears that went into that success, which Weichert recounts.

“I remember when I was making hundreds of phone calls each day when I first got involved in real estate in 2000,” she says. “I had three little children who I had to feed. I made the phone calls when I was out with the kids and took them to the open houses. Whatever it took to make that sale. That’s why I’m so proud to see the success that I’ve had because it’s been a combination of lots of hard work and sacrifices in my life.”

According to Steve Murray, president of REAL Trends, the individual agents and teams who make up the 2019 America’s Best Real Estate Professionals represent less than 1.5 percent of all Realtors® in the country yet account for ‘over 12 percent of the closed transactions and more than 22 percent of all the sales volume closed last year.’

“It’s incredible to consider that such a small number of real estate professionals have found a way to truly build their own businesses,” Murray said. “It’s also interesting that these top performers are reaching new levels while they work with numerous different kinds of brokerage firms and regions of the country.”

Weichert’s investment in education and relationships combined with being connected on the latest trends in negotiating and advertising have been vital to her becoming a top performer while reaching new levels of success.

“I try to take as many classes and seminars as I can,” Weichert suggested while recalling the 160 hours of education to get her broker’s license. “I read as many books as I can so that I am prepared in any situation because this is often the biggest investment my clients’ lives and I take pride in being a wingman that they can trust throughout the transaction. Whether they are buying or selling, it’s vital to be educated about the process.”

The value of retained relationships has been a foundation for continued success and it is a cornerstone principle behind the operations of Weichert Realtors over the last 50 years.

“It’s something that makes you very proud knowing that the job you’ve done has made a difference in your clients’ lives,” Weichert explained. “Hearing the feedback coming from them so many years later and then working with second and even third generation clients is such a rewarding feeling.”

Weichert of Chatham has made a commitment to the community beyond their relationships with clients. Over the summer they celebrated Christmas in July and have participated in drives for hurricane victims. Upcoming this fall, they will be hosting their second annual Halloween Costume Drive and last year Weichert had the 40th anniversary of their annual Holiday Toy Drive.

The family-owned real estate agency ranks as the 108th best place to work in America, according to Forbes.
