SUMMER READING STARTS!

School is out, and our Summer Reading Program starts with a bang!  Everyone is invited to a fabulous juggling and comedy show with Jester Jim on Monday.  Children can sign up for the Summer Reading Club on that day and start reading, earning points for prizes and the picnic at the end of the program.  We have lined up a great array of events for all ages – find them in our summer newsletter here.  See you at the library!

Summer Reading Kickoff: Jester Jim – 7 pm

Kick off the Summer Reading Club with Jester Jim!  The whole family will enjoy this hilarious show featuring juggling, comedy, music, and more.

TUESDAY, JUNE 25

Italian Conversation Group – 7:15 pm

Luciana Santoriello moderates this Italian discussion group with help from other fluent speakers.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26

Book Group:  Less – 1 pm

The group will discuss Less by Andrew Sean Greer.  You may pick up a copy of the book at the Information Desk.

Ⓒ Legopalooza! – 2:30 to 4 pm

For children of all ages

Build your own LEGO creation from our enormous collection of LEGOs.  Creations will be put on display in the Children’s Room.

Creating Safe and Affirming Communities for Transgender Youth – 6:30 to 8:30 pm

Presented by Garden State Equality, this program will teach participants about the challenges faced by transgender youth in school and community settings and how to advocate for change.  Participants will be provided with a comprehensive explanation of state law and school policies as they apply to transgender and gender nonconforming youth in order to better understand transgender rights.  The final step of the workshop will provide tools for participants on how to engage friends, extended family, and community in order to create safe spaces and advocate for trans youth in school and in the broader community.  Teens and adults welcome.

A fun, funny puppet and magic show perfect for preschoolers!

Cinema214: Dumbo (PG, 112 min.) – 7 pm

A young elephant, whose oversized ears enable him to fly, helps save a struggling circus, but when the circus plans a new venture, Dumbo and his friends discover dark secrets beneath its shiny veneer.  Refreshments will be served.  Sponsored by Friends of the Library
