PROGRAMS AND EVENTS

As nights get darker, we invite you to two movie nights this week. Families with children will enjoy an animated feature, Leap!  Teenagers can have a good time together while watching Grease and eating pizza.  In December we are entering the holiday mode.  Friends of the Library will offer holiday gift books at their annual one-day sale, and the Concord Singers will present a concert of classic holiday favorites on Saturday.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28

Italian Conversation Group – 7:15 to 9 pm

Are you a bit rusty with your Italian language skills?  Native speakers Luciana Santoriello and Carmen Del Guercio-Evans will moderate this Italian discussion group and help to get a conversation going.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 29

Book Group:  A Piece of the World – 1 pm

The library will discuss A Piece of the World by Christina Baker Kline.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  You may reserve a copy of the book at the Information Desk.

Ⓒ Homework Helpers – 3:30 to 5 pm

Grades K to 5              Limit:  6 children per session

Registration opens two weeks prior to each session

Two Chatham High School students will provide homework help for children in grades K to 5.  All subjects welcome!

Teen Movie Night: Grease (PG-13, 110 min.) – 6:30 pm

Join us for pizza and a movie!  Bring your friends and have a sing-along with these classic songs.  Good girl Sandy and greaser Danny fell in love over the summer.  When they unexpectedly discover they’re now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance?   Refreshments will be served.  Sponsored by Friends of the Library

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30

Bob Conrad Music and Puppets – 10 or 10:45 am

For preschoolers and their caregivers

A fun, funny puppet and magic show perfect for preschoolers!

Ⓒ Stitch a Justice League Wonder Woman with Miss Polly – 4 to 5 pm

Thursdays, November 2, 9 and 30

Ages 6 & Up                Limit:  8 children

This is the last class in this three-week series.  You will finish sewing your own Wonder Woman doll.

Ⓕ Cinema214:  Leap! (PG, 89 min.) – 7 pm

11-year-old orphan Félicie has one dream – to go to Paris and become a dancer.  Her best friend Victor has a dream of his own – to become a famous inventor.  In a leap of faith, Victor and Félicie leave their orphanage in pursuit of their passions.  But there’s a catch – Félicie must pretend to be the child of a wealthy family in order to gain admittance to the prestigious and competitive Opera Ballet School in Paris.  Join us for this charming animated film.  Refreshments will be served.  Sponsored by Friends of the Library

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2

Friends of the Library Holiday Book Sale – 11 am to 2 pm

Friends of the Library will hold their annual Holiday Book Sale for one day only.  Browse the wonderful selection of holiday books, children’s hardcover picture books, cookbooks and gift books.

Ⓕ Holiday Concert with the Concord Singers – 3 pm

The Concord Singers, founded in 1977, is a women’s community chorus dedicated to high quality choral performances.  The group will offer a holiday concert entitled Myths and Mystery and will include a variety of holiday-themed music such as Hodie Christus Natus Est, Adam Lay Ybounden, Nes Gadol, and Fum, Fum, Fum.  All are invited to attend.
