It’s party time! We will be hosting a Virtual Costume Contest, trying to find out what the Chathams’ favorite Halloween candy is, sharing some fun Halloween activities you can do at home, and more! Be sure to check out our webpage to see what we have going on virtually in the days leading up to Halloween.
The costume contest will have four categories - Ages 5 & Under, Ages 6 to 12, Ages 13 to 18, and Family/Group – and yes, there will be prizes! Entries can be submitted as early as Monday, October 19.

Online Chess for Kids with Sean Finn
Mondays and Tuesdays
The fall chess series is held on Mondays and Tuesdays for 6 weeks, through October 20. For registered players only
Group 1 – Mondays at 4 pm

Group 3 – Tuesdays at 4 pm

Rutgers Master Gardener Gail Di Domenico will present a virtual lecture explaining everything you need to know to get your lawn, trees, shrubs, perennials, vegetable garden, and ornamental beds ready for winter. Information on extending the garden season, bulbs, vegetables to plant, and plants with winter and year-round interest will be discussed. A calendar of chores and projects will be included.

While the situation is constantly changing, Library Director Karen Brodsky holds weekly talks about the status of the library and its plans for reopening. Friends of the Library officers and co-chairs of the Book Sale Debbie Fabian and Maureen Kelly will talk about the status of the annual Book Sale.

Discover the types of marine mammals and sea turtles that visit New Jersey and the dangers they face. Learn how the Marine Mammal Stranding Center helps these animals. You will also learn about actions you can take to help marine animals and their ocean environment.
The Marine Mammal Stranding Center is located in Brigantine, New Jersey. As of now, it has responded to 5,576 strandings of whales, dolphins, seals and sea turtles that have washed ashore over the years.

If you want to know how crossword puzzles are constructed, or try your hand at making your own, this program is for you! Ruth B. Margolin has had twelve puzzles published in the New York Times, including five Sunday puzzles, as well as in the Wall Street Journal and in USA Today. Ruth has served as an official at the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament for several years.
