CHATHAM, NJ - Chatham Township resident Ashley Dunn came up with the idea that has been gaining steam recently, starting a flower chain to brighten the day for her neighbors.

"The bulk of our business has come from people trying to cheer each other up, lift their spirits and brighten their day," Sunnywoods Florist proprietor Rosa Marsal said. "One lady in town (Dunn) started a flower chain which actually worked. She sent out three bouquets with the message 'I hope these brighten your day. I'm sending a few, will you send some, too'.

"Everyone who has received one sent out to three more people. It's been growing. Every day we get more and more."

Chatham Borough Mayor Thaddeus Kobylarz and Chatham Borough Police Chief Brian Gibbons were out on Main Street Friday afternoon, visiting shops on Main Street.

"The reason the chief and I are out here together is that we still want people to support Chatham businesses," Kobylarz said.

In relation to the Coronavirus, Kobylarz said that the Chatham Borough website will provide the latest information received from the borough's health officer or information on executive orders by the governor or the state.

"We are asking all residents to sign up for AlertChathamBorough emails," Kobylarz said.
