CHATHAM, NJ - Alexa Kelly and Roxanne Elbanna had been working friends for four and a half years before they decided to go into business together.
The two 27-year-olds made that a reality on Oct. 10 when they opened their hair salon "Luxe on Main" in Chatham.
"We're very happy to welcome Luxe to Main Street, a bright new storefront," Chatham Borough Mayor Bruce Harris said. "Over the past year, we've seen a number of new businesses open up. We welcome them all."
Mayor Harris and borough council members Thad Kobylarz and Bob Weber came to the 234 Main Street salon to make it official on Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
"We've known each other for four and a half years and decided to open our own place," Kelly said. "We do everything hair related, extensions, Keratin treatments. We also do makeup for proms, weddings you name it."
Elbanna is from Union, and she thought of Chatham as the place to open their new business venture.
"I'm familiar with Chatham and we just love the area," Elbanna said. "People are constantly walking by on Main Street. It's fun."
