CHATHAM, NJ - Chatham High AP Computer Science Students Maya Lee and Bella Hoie are offering a free virtual summer camp for Chatham female students - Future Female Hackers - that starts Monday, June 22 and runs through July 22.
"The program is designed to expose younger girls to computer science (Grades 6-9)," Lee said. "We will be teaching the girls the basics of coding using an easy, beginner, block coding language called MIT App Inventor. This language is also used at CHS by Mr. Hajdu so we are extremely familiar with the language and are capable of explaining to others how to use it.
"The platform that we will be teaching these lessons is Google Meets. We are planning to code some fun games and teach them the fundamentals of coding which will culminate in a final project. Our first session starts this coming Monday (6/22) and we are looking to fill some additional open spots."
