Dear Editor,

I am writing in support of Stacey McEvoy for Chatham Borough Council.

I first got to know Stacey as a fellow mom when our children were classmates in kindergarten. Stacey was raising her three young children when she was accepted into Columbia University School of Journalism. She worked her way through graduate school and received her Master's degree before her oldest child was in middle school.  With this impressive achievement, Stacey could have moved into the wider world but instead, she has chosen to use her gifts here in Chatham.  She has written in local publications about events and people in our community. Stacey has an ability to gather information, see what is at the core of an issue and explain it clearly. She can get to know a person at their heart and grasp what is most meaningful to them.  These are traits that will help her to recognize the important issues in Chatham Borough, understand the needs of her constituents, and present them clearly and compassionately to the council and public.

Stacey's choice to devote herself to Chatham has benefited my family by her service to our church.  She is an active member of Saint Patrick Parish. She has been a lector since she moved to Chatham seventeen years ago.  She has been a teacher in the faith formation program for eight years.

I believe that the Chatham Borough Council would be well served by Stacey McEvoy’s talents and I urge my fellow residents to vote for her November 5.
