To the Editor:
As a long-term Chatham Borough resident and a senior who would like to stay here, I am pleased to vote for Thad Kobylarz for Mayor, and for Karen Koronkiewicz and Irene Treloar for Borough Council.
In his time on the Borough Council, Thad has shown himself to be someone who listens to residents, including seniors, and will work hard to address their concerns. As part of his platform running for mayor, he is advocating for a Senior Citizen’s Advisory Committee – something that fell through this year – as well as a broader assessment of senior needs, such as more housing options, more walking trails, and more reliable transportation options.
Karen Koronkiewicz, at the Candidate’s Forum, pointed to the fact that Chatham’s working parents often need help taking their kids to and from school and to after-school activities, while many able-bodied retirees in town would love an opportunity to engage with the younger generation in this way. That kind of creative thinking is what it will take to improve the quality of life for all residents.
Irene Treloar said in her closing statement at the Candidate’s Forum that “I am running for Council because I want to live in Chatham for the next 50 years.” She has spent many hours canvassing residents young and old and clearly takes the long view in terms of making Chatham a community that works for all of us.
We would all benefit by having this dedicated, hard-working team working for US, the residents of Chatham Borough.
