To the Editor:

We’re facing challenging times in Chatham Township as we continue to debate the important issues that will define our community going forward. There are strong voices on all sides. While diverse opinions are healthy in the process to explore solutions and reach consensus, the drama that we’ve seen particularly in recent months has been difficult to watch. Many have urged that we not lose our good neighbor attitude as we work through the problems. We’re all in this together.

As a 30-year Township resident having been involved for 10 years televising Township Committee meetings, four years helping the Board of Education through its first strategic planning initiative and later with facilitating video coverage of its meetings, I have seen what’s possible when folks choose to engage with one another in a spirit of collaboration and respect. That’s the key.
