To the Editor:

I am moved to write a letter supporting Thad Kobylarz for Mayor mainly because of his vision for transporting Chatham’s economy into the 21st century while maintaining our town’s 19th-century charm—thus expanding our tax base. This may seem like an unreachable miracle, except that Thad sees a workable way to do it and has the legal and technical knowledge to make it happen.

Those who know Thad see in him a man of insight, intelligence, and respect for others, not to mention his advanced degrees from Columbia University in electrical engineering, U. of Pennsylvania and Oxford University, among other educational institutions.

I mention the electrical engineering degree because I suspect that technical knowledge helped him come up with his initiative to attract technology and innovation firms to two industrial zones along the Passaic River.  He began this initiative last year along with the Morris County Economic Development Corp.

Thad has served on borough council since 2017, where he chaired the budget and finance committee, had a seat on the planning board and the Communications and Technology Advisory Committee, among other committees.

Thus I urge you to vote Tuesday for Thad Kobylarz for Mayor.

I also ask voters to support Karen Koronkiewicz and Irene Treloar for borough council seats.  They will bolster Thad’s vision of attracting technology firms here as forward-thinking supporters of economic and environmental progress in Chatham.   What’s more, they’re both contract lawyers.  They can work out all the details.
