To the Editor:

The priority for today’s youth is the environment. As I look towards casting my first vote on November 5th, I want to be confident that the people who get my vote will work towards the change I want to see.

I feel it is important that Chatham takes a progressive stance on environmental stewardship. Working together, action can be taken towards a more sustainable and green community. For my Girl Scout Gold Award, I collected over 1000 pounds of single-use plastic bags from the Chatham community for recycling into benches. Determined to make a greater impact, I worked with Borough Council members, including Thad Kobylarz, on the recently passed plastic bag ban ordinance. There is more that can be done. I am confident that Thad Kobylarz, Irene Treloar, and Karen Koronkiewicz will continue to work with me and other Chatham residents who share my concerns to make a greener, more sustainable Chatham.
