When someone takes pride in their work, it becomes a special moment when they come upon an anniversary and realize how much time has flown by. And for Anthony Pascarella, it was indeed a special moment on Sunday, February 9th, marking the 10th year of business for the Pascarella Brothers.

“We are thankful to be part of the community who supports us as we support them,” said Anthony Pascarella.

Pascarella Brothers Delicatessen and Catering is an Italian/American eatery that has been serving residents in both Chatham (34 Watchung Avenue) and Morristown (61 South Street) for the last 10 years. The establishment has been owned by Anthony and his brother Gino Pascarella since 2010.

Anthony is a Madison High school graduate of 1989 and attended the County College of Morris. Currently living in Chatham, he has worked in the food industry since 1984, having previously owned two other delicatessens in Chatham and Florham Park with his brother; the first being owned at the age of 21.

Gino is a Florham Park resident and a 1999 graduate of Chatham High School, as well as a 2003 alumni of Fairleigh Dickinson University, in Madison. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel restaurant and tourism management and has been in the food industry since 1992.

After working here and there, the Pascarella Brothers decided in 2010 to keep pursuing their passions in serving people good food and hospitality, and thus opened their current eateries. With menus containing great dishes such as antipasto salads, Panini and sub sandwiches, Sloppy Joes, meatballs, mozzarella, grilled chicken, Italian sausage and hotdogs, the two brothers are proud of the years they’ve had for their business.

“Thinking of all the faces we’ve known through the years, it’s a nice feeling for people to come in with their families and enjoy a nice meal,” Anthony Pascarella said.

“Now there are kids who came to our place and they’re all grown up and have kids of their own who come here now. Pascarella has a nice family atmosphere. We know them and they know us.”

And indeed, Pascarella Brothers knows their community, especially since the eatery has been involved in many community events. These events include the Walk for Life, the local farmer’s market, and even Chatham’s annual Fishawack Festival during the summer.

Anthony also recalls how much he and Gino have been involved in community sports, serving as coaches for local football, wrestling and softball teams. Gino himself is a board member of the Chatham Youth Football Club.

Furthermore, another good memory involves Pascarella Brothers setting up a few tents to serve food to over 800 Chatham residents at the state football championship game held at Kean University in 2015.

“It was a nice community event where everyone came together for a great football game,” said Anthony. “I love it when towns come together for events like that. It was like we were all on the same team.”

And Pascarella Brothers intends to be on that team for the decade, making sure people feel right at home with great food and great service. The last 10 years may seem long and tiring, but the two brothers don’t intend to stop there.

“It’s a good assumption that we’ll be open for another 10 years,” said Anthony. “We thank our family friends and all of the local community who have supported us.”
