Chatham 12-year-old Markus Kleinbauer spent his summer training for a race that benefits research that helps improve the survival rate of neuroblastoma, a form of cancer that impacts infants and children. He was able to raise $2,600 for the cause through the run and other efforts.

Kleinbauer spent the good part of the summer training for the 7.2-mile run - the New Balance Falmouth Road Race - which was held Aug. 18 in Cape Cod.

The Chatham Middle School 7th-Grader raised money for BeatNB by soliciting sponsors for his run via emails and holding a lemonade/bake stand in front of his Chatham home.
