CHATHAM, NJ - The Borough of Chatham Council announced at its regular meeting on Monday night that the community pool at Memorial Park will not open this summer due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Steve Williams, the borough administrator, made the announcement in the video below. Williams also said that Colony Pool in Chatham Township and the Madison Borough Pool have agreed to welcome Chatham Borough residents this summer.

Williams noted that the smaller size of Chatham Borough's municipal pool did not allow for safe distancing and that the Colony and Madison pools have a larger area to accommodate pool-goers.

Council member Carolyn Dempsey said that Chatham Borough residents would not have to pay higher non-resident fees at Colony or Madison and that borough residents would be charged a pro-rated fee because the pool season opening was delayed by the pandemic.
