CHATHAM, NJ - Chatham Township residents could get a longer grace period on Monday when the Chatham Township Committee holds a special meeting to vote on Gov. Murphy's executive order that allows for a grace period in the payment of municipal taxes to June 1.

According to a message on the Chatham Township website, the only item on the agenda for the 3 p.m. meeting set for Monday, May 4, will be on whether to extend the tax payment deadline to June 1 as per Murphy's executive order.

On Tuesday, Gov. Murphy had issued his executive order, giving municipalities the option of extending the grace period. Currently, taxes are due May 1, with a 10-day grace period before interest is added.
