CHATHAM, NJ - Margarita Murray's husband, Joe, is a walking advertisement for her menswear and accessories shop, Pour HoMMe, located at 242 Main St., in Chatham.
He stopped by the shop to help celebrate his wife's one-year anniversary and ribbon-cutting event and his outfit, from head to toe, was provided by Pour HoMMe, which means "For Men" in English.
"She even came home one day and complimented me on what I was wearing," he said.
While Joe gets to walk around in the latest menswear as a non-paid model, that's the only part of the business he's involved in. The rest is all the brains and sweat of Chatham resident and entrepreneur Margarita Murray.
The former banker has seen 2,500 customers pass through her doors in the last year.
"My customer base extends over six states," Murray said. "I ship direct. I have a customer in the UK and I also send to college campuses."
Her No. 1 seller is her semi-custom shirts that are made to order for $99 as explained in the video below.
Murray has made it easy for those shopping for a Father's Day gift. She keeps a record of all her customers' sizes, leaving no doubt about what size to purchase.
Pour HoMMe offers "fun, fun sport coats" made by 7 Downie Street. Customer and Chatham resident Peter Fife said he was surprised by all the compliments he got when he wore one of the sports coats to an event a few weeks ago.
"None of my customers have to worry about wearing the same outfit to an event," Muray said. "If someone says 'I want this jacket,' I will check to see if you know the person who bought it and if you are likely to be in the same social event with them. I cater to all shapes and sizes."
