The Chatham Borough Police Department was awarded the Northeast AAA - Platinum Award for Community Traffic Safety on October 29th, 2019. 

The Chatham Borough Police Department achieved the Platinum Award through their hard work and contributions on two major projects to increase pedestrian safety and improve the flow of traffic within the Borough. 

One project involved the reconfiguration of the drop-off/pick-up area of Washington Avenue School and the other project involved a comprehensive effort by the Traffic Safety Section, Borough Council, NJDOT, Chatham Borough Engineering Department, and Chatham Borough DPW to improve driving conditional along Main Street (Rt. 124).

The projects, which are still ongoing, have and will continue to result in improved flow of traffic for pedestrians and vehicles thereby making it safer within the Borough, especially on Main Street (Rt 124) during rush hour traffic.

These projects highlight the tremendous attention the Chatham Police Department, and specifically, the Traffic Safety Section, invests in the continuous pursuit of improving the safety of the roadways in Chatham Borough for the pedestrians and vehicle commuters alike. 

The AAA Platinum Award, which is the highest award a department can be achieve, was well deserved and was an honor to be received by the Chatham Borough Police Department.
