CHATHAM, NJ - Benjamin L. Zinn was sworn in as a probationary firefighter for the Chatham Borough Volunteer Fire Department on Monday night at the regular meeting of the Borough of Chatham Council.
Zinn, 22, will join Engine 1 Company.
In other business, the council unanimously introduced an amendment to an ordinance that regulates the sale of alcoholic beverages in the borough. According to council member Vicki Fife, the amendment will extend the hours for sale of alcoholic beverages from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. The public hearing on the ordinance is set for July 8.
A resolution designating Chatham River Road Partners, LLC, as the redeveloper for the River Road North Redevelopment Area was passed by the council. According to the resolution, Chatham River Road Partners is an "affiliate of BNE Real Estate Group of Livingston." The resolution specifies a deadline of Dec. 24, 2019, a period of six months, to "agree on a specific development proposal and enter into a Redevelopment Agreement."
Chatham Borough Mayor Bruce Harris was authorized by resolution to submit an application for a grant to the Morris County Train Construction Grant Program to fund the construction of a "Garden Park Pedestrian Walking Path."
The council accepted the resignation of Timothy B. Day as the chief financial officer for the Borough of Chatham. The effective date of the resignation is June 28, 2019.
