CHATHAM, NJ - One young Chatham girl busted open her piggy bank to buy a Buzz Lightyear figure for the patients at the Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside.
"A parent came in with her daughter, who was five or six, and placed down the toy," Diane Walsh, manager of the Chatham Weichert Real Estate office, said. "You know she took money out of her own piggy bank because she wanted to buy a Toy Story toy for the children. She was super excited when she came to drop it off."
For the second straight year, Weichert's Chatham office collected toys to provide "Christmas in July" for Children's Specialized Hospital.
"All we did was put a sign out front and we got twice as many toys as last year," Walsh said.
According to Mary Weichert, more than 400 toys were collected with the help of donations from the McNany Charitable Foundation, MAX Challenge of Madison and Montclair and Sons of the American Legion.
