CHATHAM, NJ - The Chatham Township Planning Board meeting scheduled for Monday, April 6, has been canceled and all matters involving affordable housing have been carried forward to a 7:30 p.m. April 20 meeting date.

The Monday meeting was supposed to be a virtual meeting with the public being kept away due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and the April 20 meeting is "anticipated" again to be a virtual meeting.

A number of items on the agenda for the meeting involve the negotiated third round element of affordable housing negotiated through litigation with the Fair Share Housing Center.

An item for discussion on the agenda is a preliminary investigation into the redevelopment of Block 62, Lots 71 and 74 for redevelopment on River Road. On Friday, a resident of River Road filed a civil lawsuit against Chatham Township for choosing River Road as the site for 62 affordable housing units.
