CHATHAM, NJ - The Chatham Township Planning Board unanimously memorialized the approved applications for the Skatepark Affordable Housing - Arbor Green at Chatham - and the Dixiedale Development at its regular meeting on Monday night.
In other business related to affordable housing obligations, the planning board also voted to recommend the adoption of the Development Fee Ordinance and the Fairmount Commons Overlay Zone Ordinance. The planning board found both to be "inconsistent" with the current township master plan, but recommended approval to further the township's affordable housing objectives.
The Chatham Township Committee will hold a public hearing on the development fee and overlay zone ordinances and vote on the adoption of the ordinances on Thursday, Dec. 19 at its Special Meeting set for 7:30 p.m.
The Skatepark and Dixiedale plans had been approved during a five-hour, 30-minute meeting, which ended at 1:08 a.m. Oct. 22 with an 8-1 vote.
The two projects are linked. The approved rezoning of the 30-acre Dixiedale property from single-family residential to multi-family zoning was part of a two-step deal. In exchange for the rezoning the developers agreed to pay for the construction of the 24 Affordable Housing units on Southern Boulevard.
