CHATHAM, NJ - River Road Developer Jonathan Schwartz is planning to bury all telephone and utility wires for the 240 to 259 luxury apartment units proposed for River Road at the corner of Watchung Avenue, he said during the Joint Special Meeting of the Chatham Borough Planning Board and Borough Council.
Schwartz revealed his plan to bury power wires when the architectural drawings of the apartment building were shown to the planning board, council and public on Thursday night at the Chatham Borough Municipal Building.
"We're trying to bury all the above-ground utility wires for this project," Schwartz said. "I think we've got some really good movement. We're having JCP&L do a budget for us right now and we're waiting for Verizon and Comcast. So hopefully all the telephone wires and utility wires will all hopefully be buried underground. I can't say for sure because it's out of our control."

Parking for the one and two-bedroom apartments will be underneath the building.
