Chatham Borough has sent out an Alert Chatham Borough notice that "out of an abundance of caution" due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, all parks and athletic fields within the borough are now closed until further notice.
That would include Lum Avenue Field, Haas Field, Memorial Park, Garden Park and Shepard Kollock Park.
The full message can be seen below:
To the residents, business owners and visitors of Chatham Borough,
The Mayor, Council and Coronavirus Task Force for the Borough of Chatham are continuing to closely monitor developments related to the outbreak of the Cornavirus (COVID-19) and continue to update our webpage (www.chathamborough.org) routinely with information received from the CDC, State, County and Local public safety partners related to this serious health emergency.
Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, for the safety and welfare of all who live, work or visit the Borough, and consistent with suggestions to maintain social distancing received from the CDC, State Department of Health and local Department of Health, all parks and athletic fields within the Borough are closed until further notice.
Please refrain from using the parks and/or athletic fields and continue to maintain social distancing so that we can stem the spread of the Cornavirus (COVID-19). Your help in this effort is needed and your cooperation is most appreciated.
We will continue to evaluate the need for this closure and for additional measures that may become necessary under the declared State of Emergency.
Please review the CDC website (www.cdc.gov) and the State Department of Health website (www.nj.gov/health) so that you may stay informed with the most current information available. Thank you.
