MORRIS PLAINS, NJ - Senior Alec Gironda clocked 16:07, good for seventh place overall, in leading the Chatham boys cross-country team to second place at the Morris County Championships held Wednesday at Greystone.

Chatham ended with 88 points, second only to Mendham, which had 56 points. The Cougars had five runners crack 17 minutes and posted an average team time of 16:37.98. Six Chatham runners ran personal-record times.

"The Chatham harriers put together their best team race in several years at the Morris County Championships," Chatham coach Patrick Barry said. "Their 2nd place finish is their best since winning it all in 2014. They ran the fastest team average time of the season by far and overwhelmed three teams that had defeated them in the NJAC Championship Meet last week - West Morris, Morristown and Delbarton."
