BOONTON, NJ - The Chatham field hockey team came in as the underdogs as the No. 5 seed trying to upend the No. 1 team in the Morris County Tournament semifinal on Saturday at Boonton High.
Chatham, on its heels defensively from the start, hung in until West Morris scored twice during a 38-second span, sparking a 4-0 win by the Wolverines.
"They're the No. 1 team. They're West Morris," Chatham coach Kaitlin Leyden said. "I honestly just think they're a great team. It's hard to beat a team like West Morris. There is a reason they're No. 17 in the state. Our girls gave it their all."
Chatham (10-4-1) has two losses at the hands of West Morris (15-1-1) this season.
