TOMS RIVER, NJ - Sarah Petitjean won silver medals in both the 800-meter run and the 1600 in helping Chatham score 46 points and take fourth place as a team at the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 state sectional track meet held Friday at the Bennett Center.

The top six finishers in each event qualify for the Group 3 Championships set for Feb. 29 in Toms River. The top three finishers received medals.

Petitjean ran 2:26.28 in the 800 and 5:23.11 in the 1600, producing 16 points for the Cougars.

Also earning silver medals with second-place finishes for Chatham were Lauren Clark with a time of 8.90 in the 55-meter hurdles and Ashley Smith, who cleared 8 feet in the pole vault. It was the first time competing in the pole vault for Smith.

Chatham received third-place finishes from Maya Lee, who clocked 7.71 in the 55-meter dash and Melina Panagakos, who cleared 4 feet, 10 inches in the high jump.

Chatham's 4x400 team also will advance to the Group 3 meet, as the team of Katie Carraciolo, Maya Lee, Karen Cashel and Jess Vespasiano took fifth with a time of 4:22.63.
