EAST HANOVER, NJ - Sophomore guard Cam Rooney scored a game-high 24 points and senior forward Andrew Bergman produced 20 points in fueling Chatham's fourth straight boys basketball victory, 92-80 over Hanover Park on Monday night.
Chatham (5-2) dropped in 30 points int he fourth quarter to put the game away, led by Rooney with nine points and Bergman with eight points, including two three-point plays.
The Hornets, who press the entire game, came in averaging 85 points per game and had won three in a row before Chatham snapped that streak.
"Hanover creates a tempo that allows you to shoot quick and get easy baskets but also causes turnovers," Chatham coach Todd Ervin said. "Fortunately, we did a nice job of handling the pressure and getting easy shots."
Also contributing to the big fourth period for the Cougars was senior guard Luke Fekete, who went 6-for-6 from the line and scored eight of his 12 points in the period. Senior forward E.J. Leskauskas ended with 13 points and hit a big 3-pointer in the final quarter for Chatham.
Hanover Park (3-4) dropped in 14 3-pointers in the game, compared to six 3-pointers by Chatham, which received four 3-pointers from Rooney.
