MORRIS PLAINS, NJ - Sophomore Ryan Beegle led the pack for Chatham for the first time in his young career, as the Cougar boys won cross-country races over Mendham, Morristown and West Morris in a Batch meet held Wednesday at Greystone.
Chatham's team average of 16:54 is the fastest of all teams that have run the Greystone course this season. The Cougars improved their team average by 19 seconds over last week's average.
"The Chatham Cougars put together one of their best team efforts in recent years in dominating their race on Wednesday," Chatham coach Patrick Barry said.
Chatham pushed its dual meet record to 5-1 with its wins over Mendham (19-41), Morristown (21-40) and West Morris (20-41).
Beegle, who placed fourth in 16:38, received plenty of support from his teammates with Alex Krack crossing fifth in 16:40; Sam Ellis sixth in 16:41; Jack Fortuna 9th in 17:12, and Finn Grosso, 13th in 17:19.
The gap between Chatham's first runner and its fifth was just 40 seconds. In the seven-team race, there were a total of 49 runners competing.

The Cougars next varsity race is the NJAC Large School Championship on October 27th.
