CLINTON, NJ -- TAPintoTV Senior Producer Kayla Galka recently stopped into Fourchette, a shop on Main Street here, and spoke with staff members about the secrets of the success behind this thriving small business.
Fourchette opened five years ago as a full-service cheese shop, with gourmet foods, imported French linens and unique home and kitchen goods. While other local stores have come and gone, Fourchette shows no sign of slowing, and is more successful than ever. The store recently expanded and now offers cookware, bedding, and a complete line of home furnishings.
"Clinton is a little town with nice people," said Co-owner of Fourchette, Brahim Sadouni. "They have a very good idea of the good things. That's why they respond and like to come into my store."
“Brahim is the best small business owner,” said Michelle Harrison, Manager of Fourchette, “because he is, every day, engaging with the customers and people know him by name--they come to see him."
“I don’t want to say it’s easy. It’s a lot of work, but you have to make it easy,” said Sadouni. “My business has grown little by little because I believe in my wife and myself. We work very hard," he continued, "so that’s why we’re successful.”
“With a small business, you do everything,” Harrison advised. “You have to put your heart and soul into it, which translates into...innumerable hours to get that business up and running,” she said. “You have to have the passion and the work ethic to really get the job done.”
