A Sure Sign of Spring, Clark Little League Baseball and Softball Opening Day Is Just Two Weeks Away

Significant upgrades since last season

CLARK, NJ - Even though snow fell on the first day of spring, the change of seasons is a reminder that opening day of the 2015 Clark Little League Baseball season is coming soon. Little League is the official beginning of spring most years and, despite the rough winter, this year is no different. The boys and girls have already been hard at practice indoors for the past three weeks.  The official crack of the bats will begin on Monday, April 6.

On  Saturday, April 11, the Clark Little League Baseball and Clark Girls Softball Annual Opening Day Parade will kick off  the season’s first big weekend for both organizations. The parade passes right through the heart of town as the Clark Fire Department engines lead the boys and girls to their traditional opening day ceremonies.

Girls softball will start at Denman Avenue and proceed up Westfield Avenue over the Parkway bridge.  The boys will start marching at the Arthur L. Johnson High School and follow the girls up Westfield Avenue.   After the opening ceremonies, a full day of baseball will follow at both the softball and little league complexes.  Residents are encouraged to come on out and cheer on the boys and girls.

During the fall and winter, significant projects and upgrades were completed at the ball fields. The bridge leading to Muchmore Field was completely rebuilt after decades of weather damage.  Volunteers upgraded the bleachers at Lipkin Conway field. The front field, known as Bosze Field, is the major leaguers' home. It has been resodded, regraded and resurfaced with turfex.  The complex is almost ready for another great season of play.

2014 was a wonderful year for Clark Little League; capped off with Clark winning a NJ District 10 Championship in two out of three age groups.

The league recognizes its 2015 season sponsors, without whose support it would not exist.

Scutari vs Mahr

February 14, 2018

I read with interest in a local newspaper regarding the Union county democrat party political infighting for their “county chair” selection.  There were 2 letters juxtaposed, each one listing supporters of either Senator Scutari or Fanwood Mayor Mahr, who are the two main people vying for the “boss” position.

Although I am a democrat I am not a committee ...
