CLARK, NJ - Members of the Crusader Athletic Leadership Council participated in the Clark School District’s “Read Across America Day” at the Clark Pre-School on March 2.
C.A.L.C. members went into the four classrooms and read multiple children’s books to the preschoolers. Classroom teachers had additional Dr. Seuss related activities planned for the day allowing C.A.L.C. student working with the students as well.
“The C.A.L.C. was thrilled to be able to assist with the Clark School District’s Read Across America event at the Clark Pre-School. It was fun watching the high school student-athletes as they interacted with the young children, and I think both groups not only enjoyed the experience, but learned a lot while doing it,” said Gus Kalikas, Arthur L. Johnson High School Athletic Director.
Dr. Seuss’ birthday in early March kicks off the national Read Across America campaign designed to raise awareness about the importance of literacy for children.
Special guest readers will be visiting the preschool classrooms throughout March.
