CLARK, NJ - On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, two student athletes from Arthur L. Johnson High School were recipients of the Union County Interscholastic Athletic Conference’s Scholar Athlete Award.
According to ALJ officials, the UCIAC presents awards to a male and female athlete from each school in the county, to celebrate their athletic successes on the fields, courts, and mats, as well as their academic accomplishments. The UCIAC is run under the direction of Tom Lewis, the organization’s Executive Director.
This year Arthur L. Johnson Senior Students Athletes Brandon Hund and Bailey Rosenmeier
were honored as the recipients for Clark. ALJ Athletic Director Gus Kalikas said Brandon Hund had a stellar career at Arthur L. Johnson High School participating in basketball and lacrosse. As a senior, he was named captain of both teams and broke both the 1,000 point and 100 goal barriers in each sport respectively. Hund will continue his education at Towson University.
Kalikas said Bailey Rosenmeier participated in basketball and softball throughout her career at ALJ. She helped both the Lady Crusaders’ programs compete for County and Sectional State Titles throughout her years of participation with the programs.
“Brandon and Bailey have been an integral part of the success of our athletic programs at Arthur L. Johnson High School, allowing us to have success on the fields in multiple sports,” said Kalikas. “More importantly, they have been model student athletes that did things the right way both on the fields and in the classroom. They are truly deserving of being named our recipients of the UCIAC’s Scholar Athlete Awards, and we wish them well as they embark on their college careers.”
