Arthur L. Johnson’s Spanish Honor Society recently raised $1,088 in a Stop the Clock fundraiser to donate to a young girl from Puerto Rico afflicted with sclerosis. The money helped offset the cost of a back brace.

The Stop the Clock event allowed students to donate money in their classes, where class time was stopped while the teachers counted the donations.

Earlier in the year, the group successfully raised money to purchase glasses for her sister. According to the Spanish Honor Society Advisor Jennifer Welch, “The students learned that the family had been impacted by the hurricane and wanted to help. I’m really proud of the students and their dedication to helping others.”

In the future, Spanish Honor Society looks forward to more fundraisers as they continue to represent the pillars of leadership, character, scholarship, and service.
