CLARK, NJ - The Clark Public Library will host an art exhibit featuring reproductions of tne work of Jose Sobral De Almada Negreiros.

Negreiros, known as "Mestre Almada," was a contemporary Portugese artist and the mural paintings in the library feature his work on emigration. The works are chosen to represent Almada's multi-facted art and talent. He was simultaneously a painter, draughtsman, writer, costume designed and set designer, among other talents.

More than simply presenting a chronological overview of Almada Negreiro's journey as an artist, the exhibition brings out the unity of his vast and hetergoeneous work in light of more recent research on this fascinating artist.

The exhibit is sponsored by the Portugese-American Cultural Association in Clark and will run through Feb. 21 during the library's regular operating hours. For more information, please call the library at 732-388-5999 or visit
