Hillside, NJ – Close to 340,000 New Jersey children face hunger every day. Many of their families don’t have the means to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner – turkey, stuffing and all. To make sure food insecure people across the state have what they need to share in a holiday meal, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey has been acquiring thousands of turkeys since the spring and will gather even more at the 16th annual Turkey Drive the weekend before Thanksgiving.

FoodBank staff and volunteers will collect frozen turkeys and all the fixings at four-dozen sites across the state on Saturday, November 19, and Sunday, November 20. Last year, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey gathered nearly 35,000 pounds of food and more than 4,300 turkeys thanks to people who donated to help feed families in need.

The FoodBank’s most-wanted items include frozen turkeys and hams, canned vegetables, gravy, cranberry sauce and stuffing. Donate food and funds to make a difference in the lives of the 1.1 million people facing hunger in New Jersey. For more information, please visit cfbnj.org/turkey.

After Bruce Patrson of Garwood was stopped from speaking at the Union County freeholder meeting of March 22 regarding the politics behind refusing to give the party line to a sitting freeholder I thought this brazen suppression of free speech could not go unanswered. At the the April 19 meeting I answered with these comments.

After ten years of following government in Union County I conclude ...
