Arthur L. Johnson High School Hosts 2017 Spring Sports Awards Ceremony

CLARK, NJ-  Arthur L. Johnson High School held their annual Spring Sports Awards ceremony in the auditorium of the school recently. The Crusader Athletic Booster Club sponsored the Awards Night.

“The Spring Athletic Awards was a wonderful event that allowed the administration, teachers, coaches, parents, and student athletes a chance to reflect on a wonderful spring athletics season while honoring our student athletes for their remarkable accomplishments,” Clark Athletic Director Gus Kalikas said. “Our teams, coaches, and student athletes continue to raise the bar both in the classroom and on the athletic field and the Clark School District could not be more proud of their performance this past spring athletics season.”

All the teams were recognized and their seasons were highlighted, as over 125 varsity letter awards were given to the student-athletes , a sign that athletic participation continues to grow at the school.

Next, the Student Athlete Award was presented by Arthur L. Johnson High School Principal Rick Delmonaco. The 2017 Spring Sports Award Recipient was senior Shannon Brogan. The Student Athlete Award is given out each athletic season to a student athlete that is not only a champion on the field, but in the classroom as well.

Each sports season, the Crusaders G.P.A. Challenge is awarded to the team that finishes with the highest overall G.P.A. amongst athletic teams seasonally. This season's winners were the members of the 2017 Girls Track and Field team, posting a GPA of 3.762.  

Best Teammate Awards were distributed as part of the event. Winners of this award include Baseball – Michael Sot, Golf – Jim Moran, Lacrosse – Dylan Bohm, Softball – Shannon Brogan, Tennis – Anthony Bogash, Boys’ Spring Track & Field – Cameron Hund, Girls’ Spring Track & Field – Lindsey Hofschneider.

The last part of the event was the announcment of the MVPs of each sport. The MVPs were: Baseball – Joe Turek, Golf – Erin Peters, Lacrosse – Josh Hill, Softball – Gianna Randazza, Tennis – Matthew Gallo, Boys’ Spring Track & Field – Eric Velasquez, Girls’ Spring Track & Field – Kellie Bonaccorso.
