A new film production company, called "Storybook Studios," will be hosting auditions for its first two feature films. Both films promise classic family-friendly entertainment. Adults and children are invited to audition. Auditions will take place at The Westfield Community Center at 558 W Broad Street, Westfield, NJ, on Jan. 19 and Jan. 21 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

This is a dream come true for Storybook Studios founder and president John Patrick Munley, age 19 years old. He has acted in several community theatre productions for both Hedgehog & Feather Theatre Company and The CAU Community Players. He has taught himself how to do classic hand-drawn animation, and even wrote a play that was produced by The CAU Communtiy Players in 2014, when he was 17 years old.

"First, I would like to thank Mr. Jason Golowski," said Munley. "He asked his company for funding so I could make a film, and in repsonse I was granted funds to do one of these two films. I should also thank Ms. Velvet Rodgers, who has arranged for me to use The Westfield Community Center to film the two films in. There's a lot of wonderful people who made all this possible, and I am very grateful."

The first production will be an adaptation of the classic children's books of Beatrix Potter. Auditions for that film will take place on Jan. 19.

"Beatrix Potter's The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Friends" is a musical film based on the beloved stories of English children's author and illustrator Beatrix Potter. This adaptation of the beloved books will feature Miss Potter as a character in the film, as a friendly host and narrator to the stories she wrote. While Beatrix Potter is live action, her stories and characters will be animated in a classic hand-drawn animation style.

The film aims to introduce Beatrix Potter's world to the next generation of children, as Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny, Squirrel Nutkin, Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Tom Thumb, Hunca Munca, The Tailor of Gloucester, Simpkin, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, Mr. Jeremy Fisher, Mrs. Tittlemouse and all their friends magically come to life on screen like never before.

The second film will be a live-action musical adaptation of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale "Rumpelstiltskin." Auditions for that film will take place on Jan. 21.

"Rumpelstiltskin" tells the tale of Isabella, a beautiful miller’s daughter who gets into a big pickle after her father accidentally lies that she can spin straw into gold. She is soon put to a test where she will have to spin a whole roomful of straw into gold for the King — by morning! Soon a strange little man appears and uses his magic to help Isabella spin the straw into gold and marry the king. But the magical little man isn’t as kind as he seemed. In fact, Isabella soon learns she has to pay a certain price for his help: her firstborn child. And she can only keep her baby if she can guess the strange little man’s secret and very unusual name! Don't worry: Like all fairy tales, this one has a happy ending.

After Bruce Patrson of Garwood was stopped from speaking at the Union County freeholder meeting of March 22 regarding the politics behind refusing to give the party line to a sitting freeholder I thought this brazen suppression of free speech could not go unanswered.
