EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ -- St. Joseph High School defeated Monroe, 1-0, in the GMC Final on Saturday to win the GMC Championship.

In a classic pitcher's duel, Kyle Angel, who was a perfect 6-0 this season heading into the game, proved equal to Monroe's Eric Heatter, a Rutgers commit, for seven innings. When Heatter left the game with shoulder tightness, the Falcons pushed across the game's only run against reliever Chris Perdoni.

Perdoni hit Brandon Warick with a pitch and then yielded a single to Angel. Coach Mike Murray inserted pinch runner Matt Hennelly at second and Connor Esposito at first. Nick Loffredo hit a single past short. Murray held up Hennelly, but Esposito kept running and was tagged out in a rundown. Loffredo then took off for second, resulting in an errant throw that scored Hennelly with the winning run.
