CLARK, NJ - A Clark schools employee received what police are calling a “non-specific bomb threat” on Monday evening, resulting in a “full sweep” of all the district school buildings.

The employee received the threat via a work email address, Clark Chief of Police Pedro Matos said. The employee immediately notified school administration and police, he said. According to Matos, the threat did not name a specific school.

Superintendent Edward Grande called the threat "nondescript," but said it resulted in a complete sweep of all the district school buildings.

"We always want to err on the side of caution," Grande said. "Even when they [threats] are nondescript, we still go through so parents can rest assured."

Parents were alerted to the threat through the school district’s Honeywell Alert system on Tuesday morning.

“There’s nothing to worry about,” Matos said. “Lots of other schools in the area have gotten these threats.  They are done to disrupt operations. By no means do we feel this is a credible threat.”

Matos said the source of the email will be investigated.

“Please trust that your children's safety is our number one priority and that at this time this threat is not being deemed as credible,” the Clark Police Department posted on its Facebook page.

Grande praised the Clark Police Department for their swift and comprehensive response to the threat.
