CLARK, NJ – Clark holiday traditions got served a one-two punch of cancellations this week.  In an announcement at Monday night’s Town Council meeting Mayor Bonaccorso said he was disappointed to announce there would be no ‘Breakfast with Santa’ this year.   What would have been the 20th annual event is not possible, he said because of the ongoing pandemic.

On Wednesday afternoon, Recreation Director Ralph Bernardo issued a statement in coordination with the mayor cancelling the annual ‘Winter Festival and Tree Lighting.’ Local coronavirus cases and NJ guidelines were cited as the reason.

“With the high number of COVID cases in Clark and Gov. Murphy’s recent Executive Order for Restriction of only 150 people at outdoor gatherings – leaves us no choice but to cancel the Winter Festival,” said Bernardo in his email.

He said the tree will be lit at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 28 if residents would like to drive by.

“I am beyond heartbroken,” said Bernardo in his statement to residents. “I promise Clark Recreation and all we offer will be back bigger than ever in 2021.”
