Carmen F. Brocato - Candidate for Clark Board of Education (Incumbent)

Carmen F. Brocato

My wife Christine and I have been residents of Clark for more than 19 years. My children Carmen Jr. and Michelle have gone through the Clark School District. My son Carmen is a Junior at Rowan University, and my daughter Michelle is a freshman at Montclair State University. This could have never been accomplished without an excellent school district and great teachers.

When I was first elected to the school board in 2005, taxes were double digits while the district was eliminating programs, sports, personnel and the infrastructure was crumbling. Technology was nonexistent. I have been on the finance committee since being elected where we have had the lowest tax increases in Union County over the past nine years all while adding programs, sports, personnel as well as improving the infrastructure which has never looked better. We have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in technology to bring our district into the 21st Century. Also, when I was elected, the relationship between the Town Council and the Board of Education was nonexistent. Since that time, we've have a great relationship with the Town Council which help us with shared services, the turf field at the high school and recently the access roadway at Valley Road School. By receiving this help from the Town Council, this has given us the opportunity to keep the money in the classrooms.

I am asking for your support this November 4 to continue our legacy to be fiscally responsible while continually improving the education of our children.
