Charges Against Clark BOE Member Dropped

ELIZABETH, NJ – Charges against Clark Board of Education member and Rahway High School Athletic Director Thomas Lewis have been dismissed, according to an order signed by Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park on March 2, Lewis’ attorney confirmed by email. 

Lewis was arrested in Rahway on December 28, 2014 after an altercation between Lewis and a spectator during a basketball tournament.  (Clark BOE Member Maintains Innocence after Rahway Arrest).  Lewis subsequently pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated assault.  (Board of Education Member Tom Lewis Pleads Not Guilty). 

The hearing that was originally scheduled for March 12 was canceled as a result of the dismissal.

Lewis did not reply to requests for a comment.

Cranford Man Dies after Wrong-Way Crash on Route 9

WOODBRIDGE, NJ – A Cranford man died after his car collided with another vehicle on Route 9 on Sunday.

Thomas McHugh, 88, was driving north in the southbound fast lane on Route 9, where he crashed head-on into another vehicle. On impact, one of the cars caught fire, according to Sgt. Jim Chessere of the Woodbridge Police Department.
