CLARK, NJ – Eight burglaries of unlocked cars on the east side of Clark occurred Sunday night, Clark Police reported on Monday. The incidents occurred on St. Laurent Drive and Colonial Drive in the Ross Street area.

“The investigation has progressed fairly quickly today,” Clark Chief of Police Pedro Matos said. “We already have pictures of the two individuals we believe are connected to the burglaries.”

The area has been targeted in the past, Matos said.  A similar string of unlocked car burglaries in January resulted in arrests. The township’s only residential burglary of the year, which occurred on West Lane on Nov. 29, remains under investigation.  Patrols have been increased in the area, he said.

“We’ve alerted residents to lock their car doors,” Matos said. “We are going into the Christmas season; don’t leave valuables in your car. Lock your car doors.”

Matos said the number of incidents in general has declined in the township in 2016.

“We are actually very, very low compared to surrounding communities,” he said. “I think that’s because of being proactive, putting it out there, letting people know that this is happening and making sure they have the information that they need to protect themselves.”

Matos said anyone with information about the Sunday night incidents should call Detective Pitts at 732 388-3434.

Scutari vs Mahr

February 14, 2018

I read with interest in a local newspaper regarding the Union county democrat party political infighting for their “county chair” selection.  There were 2 letters juxtaposed, each one listing supporters of either Senator Scutari or Fanwood Mayor Mahr, who are the two main people vying for the “boss” position.

Although I am a democrat I am not a committee ...
