Clark Council Holds Special Meeting Prior to Workshop

CLARK, NJ – The Clark Council held a special council meeting for the public hearing of two ordinances which were ultimately adopted by the council. 

Ordinance 17-23 allows the township to make improvements and acquire furniture for certain offices within the municipal complex.  The total cost of these improvements and purchases is $35,000 and will be funded through the township’s capital surplus.

Ordinance 17-24 amends Chapter 306 of the township’s code to allow for periodic inspections and reporting of privately owned storm water management facilities.

No objections were received regarding either ordinance.

Two resolutions were also approved during the special council meeting.  The first transferred funds within the 2017 Municipal Budget.  The second resolution was to award the contract for the 2017 NJDOT Broadway Roadway Improvements (from Grand Street to the City of Rahway border) to S. Brothers, Inc. in the amount of $382,324,69.

During the regular workshop meeting the council unanimously confirmed the reappointment of Antonio Inacio as the Municipal Court Judge through December 31, 2010. 

A resolution was also passed to open the bidding process for the professional services for 2018 (auditor, engineering services, professional planner, labor attorney, bond counsel, special counsel and director of law) on December 6th.

The Council acting as the ABC Council authorized Rotondos and Wine Anthology to extend their business hours until 10 p.m. on both Christmas Eve (12/24) and New Years Eve (12/31).  Township Clerk Edie Merkel explained that since these holidays both fall on a Sunday this year, the liquor stores would have closed at 5 p.m.

Two new police officers will be sworn in during the council meeting on December 18.
