Clark, Garwood, Winfield Girl Scouts Compete in Annual Powder Puff Derby

CLARK, NJ - The Clark, Garwood, and Winfield Girl Scouts held their Annual Powder Puff Derby at the Clark Recreation Center on Jan. 30.

Fifty nine cars entered the race this year, as well as fourteen parent cars. Volunteer Tracy Eltrimgham was excited to guest-judge the cars that won specialty certificates based on the design of their cars.

Daisies (Kindergarten – 1st grade)

  • 1st Place: Alexis Meshinsky
  • 2nd Place: Celia Carnesi Silberstein
  • 3rd Place: Allison Normann

Brownies (2nd – 3rd grades)

  • 1st Place: Reese Sebok
  • 2nd Place: Lily Ficarra
  • 3rd Place: Braelyn Prusakowski

Juniors (4th – 5th grades)

  • 1st Place: Madelaine Edmondson
  • 2nd Place: Georgia Sebok
  • 3rd Place: Isabella Papa

Cadets, Seniors, and Ambassadors

  • 1st Place: Gabriella Scipioni
  • 2nd Place: Rachel Papa
  • 3rd Place: Kelly Sullivan

Once every level was competed, the first through third place racers competed:

  • 1st Place Overall: Madelaine Edmondson (Junior)
  • 2nd Place Overall: Georgia Sebok (Junior)
  • 3rd Place Overall: Lily Ficarra (Brownie)

The CGW Girl Scouts thanked the Clark ShopRite and Acme for their generous donations. Big thanks were given to the Track Crew for helping not only during the entire race, but also at weigh-in on Friday night. The race wouldn't have been possible without their help:

An additional thanks to Stephanie Kleczynski and the kitchen crew who worked tirelessly to get donations for the kitchen, which served as a very profitable fundraiser for the scouts.

All proceeds will go to further improve the derby and to help alleviate costs to future Girl Scout events.
